And this is for good reason.
Not only is timber a sustainable resource, it is simple to construct
and can be put up quickly in inclement conditions. It is also allows
for high standards of insulation and, best of all, is cost-effective.
Then there is the flexibility.
Timber frames can have a variety of outer skins. While our designs are illustrated
with the traditional rendered block and slate roofs, stone or brick could be
used for the walls, and tiles for the roof, if this suits local tradition or
planning guidelines.
In Scandinavia and Canada timber cladding is the preferred option,
and now in many areas of the British Isles this is also seen as an
economic and sustainable alternative.
Hebridean Contemporary Homes Ltd offer high quality 150mm stud timber
frame kits, to ensure good performance in the most extreme climates.
We also use high spec rigid insulation and modern low-E insulating
breather membrane, to produce a kit a the cutting edge of timber frame
quality standards.
