The single-storey flat pack homes in our ‘Accessible’ range have all been specifically designed to keep erection time and costs low, thanks to their simple layouts and construction.
This beautiful, yet simple two-bedroomed home was initially developed for the Our Island Home competition, run by Rural Housing Scotland. The aim was to create an affordable starter home which would look at home in rural environments.
The design has almost completely eliminated corridor space. The main feature is a vaulted living area in the centre of the building with a wall of glazing. The kitchen is to the back wall with built-in storage units, freeing up space for the open-plan dining and living area.
Bedrooms are set at either end with generous cupboard space. The house is completed with a utility room, generous bathroom with dressing area and decking to the front. It can be easily extended for future family growth.
As with all our designs, this kit house is ideally suited to the landscape of Scotland. Its simple, shed-like form means it fits naturally into the landscape, and views can be carefully framed by its large front windows, one of its many attractive features not normally found in prefab houses in the UK.
This design can also be provided as a timber frame house – contact us for more details.
